A gathering storm of evidence on the power of molecular imaging
Judging from the response to IMT's '03 Washington Symposium, there is no question that PET and other molecular imaging is a hot topic. Upwards of 150 guests including noted Senators (Sen. Charles Grassley, Sen. Ted Stevens and Sen. Edward Kennedy), and Congressmen (Rep. Nancy Johnson and Rep. Ed Markey), patient advocates, healthcare and technology leaders, and members of the IMT and AMI gathered to share their views, hear the evidence and gain new insight on this advanced molecular imaging modality.

And while the evidence was compelling–and tangible, much education still needs to be done, and only we can do it.

On a grass roots level, around the country, we need to help people understand the life-saving difference PET can make. To clear up the misconceptions, break down the barriers, for more patients, more physicians, more leaders who can impact public policy. Yes, we have been noticed–the data is clear and strong. This is our chance, through heightened awareness and communication, to bring molecular imaging to a new level.

As Emerson said more than 150 years ago, "the first wealth is health." We are the wealthiest nation on earth. Let's keep good health moving forward.
